Vovy sets up free uptime checks in Better Stack for your site and API, sends alerts to email and Slack, and adds a public status page.
Set up uptime monitoring so I know if my site goes down
How it works
- Create your Better Stack account: Vovy opens betterstack.com and you sign up yourself. The free plan covers 10 monitors, which is plenty for most apps.
- Add monitors for site and API: It adds one monitor for your homepage and one for a health route like /api/health, so you catch a broken backend behind a working page.
- Check for a keyword, not just a 200: Vovy sets the homepage monitor to look for text that only appears when the app renders, so a blank 200 page still counts as down.
- Connect Slack alerts: It connects the Slack integration and picks a channel. You approve the Slack permission screen yourself.
- Publish a status page: Vovy creates a simple status page and hands you the link, plus a card listing each monitor and its check interval.

FAQ
Is this free?
Better Stack's free plan includes 10 monitors checked every 3 minutes and one status page. Faster checks and phone call alerts are paid.
Will checks count as traffic in my analytics?
They hit your server but do not run your analytics script, so they usually will not show up as visitors.
What should my health route return?
A quick 200 with a tiny JSON body. Better if it also does a trivial database read so it fails when the database is down.
