Vovy creates a Sentry project, runs the setup wizard in your repo, adds the DSN to Vercel, and fires a test error so you see it land.
Set up Sentry so I know when my app breaks for users
How it works
- Create a Sentry project: Vovy opens sentry.io, you sign in yourself, and it creates a project for your framework, like Next.js or React.
- Run the Sentry wizard: It runs npx @sentry/wizard@latest in Terminal, which adds the SDK and config files and sets up source maps so errors point to your real code.
- Add the DSN to Vercel: The DSN, Sentry's address for your project, goes into Vercel's Environment Variables for Production and Preview, plus the auth token for source maps.
- Trigger a test error: Vovy opens the example page the wizard created and clicks its test button, then watches for the issue in Sentry.
- Show your first issue: You get a card with the test error, the file and line it came from, and how the email alert will look.
What you provide
- A Sentry account (free works)
- Your project on your Mac
What you get
- Sentry installed in your app
- Readable stack traces via source maps
- Email alerts on new errors
- A verified test error
FAQ
Is Sentry free?
The Developer plan is free for one user and includes 5,000 errors a month. Paid plans start when you add teammates or need more volume.
Will it slow my app down?
The SDK is small and sends errors in the background. You can lower the performance tracing sample rate if you want it lighter.
Does Sentry see my users' passwords?
Not by default. Sentry scrubs common sensitive fields, and session replay masks text and inputs unless you turn masking off.
