Build your Expo app, submit it to App Store Connect, and install it on your iPhone through TestFlight, Apple's official beta app.
Put my app on TestFlight so I can install it like a real app
How it works
- Create the app in App Store Connect: Vovy opens App Store Connect, clicks the plus button, then New App, and matches the bundle ID in your app.json. You sign in yourself.
- Build for production: Vovy runs eas build --platform ios --profile production. EAS signs it with your distribution certificate so Apple will accept it.
- Submit the build to Apple: Vovy runs eas submit --platform ios, which uploads the build to App Store Connect. This is sending your app to Apple, so it asks first.
- Answer export compliance: Apple asks whether the app uses encryption. Vovy explains the answer for a typical app that only uses HTTPS and sets it so future builds skip the question.
- Add yourself as an internal tester: In the TestFlight tab, Vovy adds you to an internal testing group. Internal testers need no Apple review, so you can install within minutes of processing.
- Install it on your phone: You open the TestFlight app on your iPhone and tap Install. A card shows the build number and how to push the next version.

FAQ
How long does Apple take to process a build?
Processing usually takes 5 to 30 minutes after upload. Internal testers can install right after, with no review.
Can friends test it too?
Yes. Up to 100 team members can be internal testers, and up to 10,000 people can join as external testers after a short Beta App Review.
Do TestFlight builds expire?
Yes, each build works for 90 days. Upload a new build before then to keep testers going.
