Vovy connects Twilio to Supabase Auth so users get a 6-digit text code to sign in, and walks you through US carrier registration.
Add phone number login with SMS codes to my app
How it works
- Set up a Twilio sender: Vovy opens the Twilio Console, creates a Messaging Service and shows the numbers you can buy. You approve the number purchase.
- Explain US registration: A card explains that US carriers block unregistered texts, so you'll need A2P 10DLC or toll-free verification, and helps fill in the form.
- Connect Twilio to Supabase: It pastes your Account SID, Auth Token and Message Service SID into Authentication, Sign In / Providers, Phone in Supabase.
- Build the phone login form: In Cursor Vovy adds a phone field that calls signInWithOtp and a code field that calls verifyOtp.
- Test with your phone: It sends a code to your number, you type it in, and a card shows the cost per text and the Twilio delivery log.

FAQ
What does SMS login cost?
Twilio charges per message plus a monthly number fee, and US registration has one-time and monthly fees. Costs add up faster than email.
Why aren't my texts arriving in the US?
Unregistered US traffic is filtered by carriers. Registration approval can take days to weeks.
Can bots run up my bill?
Yes, this is called SMS pumping. Rate limits, a CAPTCHA, and blocking countries you don't serve keep it in check.
