Vovy clones your repo, installs the right Node version and packages, fills in env vars, and starts the dev server so you see your app at localhost.
Clone my repo from GitHub and get it running on localhost
How it works
- Clone the repo: Vovy copies the clone URL from GitHub and runs git clone into a tidy ~/Projects folder. Cloning means downloading the code plus its full history.
- Read the project: Vovy reads package.json, the README and any .nvmrc to learn which package manager, Node version and scripts the project expects.
- Install packages: Vovy switches to the right Node version and runs npm install, or pnpm or bun if the lockfile says so, fixing errors as they appear.
- Fill in env variables: Vovy copies .env.example to .env.local and asks you for any values it cannot find, such as your Supabase URL.
- Start the app: Vovy runs the dev script, opens localhost in your browser, and shows a card with the two commands to start it yourself tomorrow.

FAQ
Why clone when I can edit in Lovable or Bolt?
Running locally lets you use Cursor or Claude Code, work offline, and debug with real tools. With two-way sync, pushes go back to the builder.
What if it says repository not found?
It is usually private and your Mac is not signed in to GitHub. Vovy sets up an SSH key or GitHub CLI login first.
Will running it locally change my live site?
No. localhost only runs on your Mac. Nothing changes online until you push and deploy.
