Vovy installs gh, the official GitHub CLI, logs you in through the browser, and sets it as your Git credential helper so pushes just work.
Install the GitHub CLI and log me in so Claude Code can open PRs
How it works
- Install gh: Vovy installs the GitHub CLI with brew install gh. It lets Terminal and AI tools create repos, PRs and issues for you.
- Start the login: Vovy runs gh auth login, picks GitHub.com, HTTPS and browser login, and copies the one-time code for you.
- Approve in your browser: GitHub opens the device login page. You paste the code and click Authorize yourself.
- Connect it to Git: Vovy runs gh auth setup-git so git push uses this login instead of asking for a password.
- Confirm who you are: Vovy runs gh auth status and shows a card with your account, scopes and a few useful commands like gh repo view --web.
What you provide

FAQ
Is this the same as an SSH key?
It solves the same problem differently, using a secure token stored in your macOS Keychain. You only need one of the two.
Can I log out later?
Yes, gh auth logout removes it, and you can revoke access any time in GitHub Settings, Applications.
Why does Claude Code need this?
Claude Code uses gh to open pull requests and read issues. Without it, it can commit but cannot talk to GitHub.
