Vovy turns your project folder into a Git repo, writes a .gitignore, creates a private GitHub repo and pushes your first commit.
Make a private GitHub repo for this folder and push my code to it
How it works
- Start a Git repo: Vovy runs git init in your folder. A repo, short for repository, is your project plus a history of every saved version.
- Keep secrets out: Before anything is saved, Vovy adds a .gitignore for node_modules and .env files, and scans for stray API keys.
- Make the first commit: Vovy stages your files and commits them. A commit is a snapshot with a short note, like a save point in a game.
- Create the GitHub repo: Vovy creates a private repo on GitHub under your account, with a name you pick, and links it to your folder as origin.
- Push and open it: Vovy pushes to main and opens the repo page, with a card explaining commit, push and pull in one line each.
What you provide
- A GitHub account (signed in)
- Your project folder
- A name for the repo

FAQ
Should my repo be public or private?
Private, unless you want strangers to read your code. GitHub Free includes unlimited private repos.
What if I already pushed a .env file?
Treat those keys as leaked: rotate them first, then remove the file from history. Vovy has a separate task for that.
Do I need to know Git commands?
No. Vovy runs them and explains each one. You will pick up the few that matter over time.
