Vovy turns on email confirmation, adds a check your inbox screen, and handles the "Email not confirmed" error so users aren't stuck.
Make new users verify their email before they can use the app
How it works
- Turn on Confirm email: Vovy opens Authentication, Sign In / Providers, Email and checks that Confirm email is on, so new accounts can't log in until the link is clicked.
- Add a check your inbox screen: In Cursor it shows a friendly screen after signup that names the email address and explains what to do next.
- Add a resend button: It wires a Resend email button to Supabase's resend method, with a cooldown so users can't spam it.
- Handle the login error: Vovy catches "Email not confirmed" on the login form and shows the resend option instead of a dead end.
- Test with a new account: It signs up, tries to log in before confirming, confirms from your inbox, and logs in again, then shows a card of each state.
What you provide
- A Supabase project
- A test inbox
What you get
- Verified emails only
- A check your inbox screen
- A resend confirmation button
- Clear errors instead of dead ends
FAQ
What happens to users who signed up before?
Existing unconfirmed users will be blocked at next login until they confirm. Vovy can list them for you first.
Do Google and GitHub users need to confirm?
No. Those providers already verify the email, so Supabase treats them as confirmed.
Will this slow down signups?
A little, since some people never click. In exchange you stop fake and mistyped addresses from filling your user list.
