Turn on Supabase Realtime for a table and subscribe in your app, so new rows appear instantly for every user without a refresh.
Make new chat messages show up live for everyone with Supabase Realtime
How it works
- Pick the table to watch: Vovy asks which data should update live, like messages or order status, and opens that table in Supabase.
- Enable Realtime on it: Vovy asks, then adds the table to the supabase_realtime publication, which tells Supabase to broadcast its changes.
- Check RLS still applies: Realtime respects Row Level Security, so users only get changes they're allowed to see. Vovy confirms your read policy exists.
- Subscribe in your app: Vovy adds a channel subscription in the right component and cleans it up when the screen closes, so connections don't pile up.
- Show it working: Vovy opens your app in two windows, adds a row in one, and shows it appear in the other instantly.

FAQ
Why don't I get any realtime events?
Usually the table isn't in the realtime publication, or RLS has no read policy for that user. Vovy checks both.
Does realtime cost extra?
It's included with limits on concurrent connections and messages. Free covers small apps; Pro raises the limits.
Can I show who's online?
Yes, with Realtime Presence, which tracks who's connected to a channel. Vovy can add it next.
