Vovy links Bolt to your GitHub account, pushes the project to a new private repo, and gets it running on your Mac.
Push my Bolt project to a GitHub repo so I can keep working in Cursor
How it works
- Open the project in Bolt: Vovy opens your project on bolt.new and finds the GitHub option in the top-right of the editor.
- Connect your GitHub account: Bolt sends you to GitHub to authorize access. You approve it yourself.
- Create the repository: Vovy names the repo and clicks Create repository. It starts private, on a main branch, with your full project.
- Run it on your Mac: Vovy clones the repo, runs npm install and starts the dev server, fixing anything that only worked inside Bolt's browser sandbox.
- Show your repo: A card links the repo, lists what Bolt syncs automatically, and explains how to keep both places in step.
What you provide
- A Bolt.new project
- A GitHub account
What you get
- A private GitHub repo with your code
- Ongoing sync from Bolt
- The app running on your Mac
- Freedom to use any editor
FAQ
Will I lose my Bolt project?
No. It stays in Bolt and keeps syncing to GitHub. You can keep building in either place.
Why does it fail to run locally when it worked in Bolt?
Bolt runs in a browser-based environment. Locally you need Node installed and your env variables copied into a .env file.
Is the repo public?
Bolt creates it as private by default. You can change visibility later in GitHub's repo settings.
