Vovy writes a GitHub Actions workflow that installs, lints, builds and tests your app on every push and PR, and explains the results.
Set up GitHub Actions to build and test my app on every pull request
How it works
- Read your scripts: Vovy reads package.json to find your lint, build and test commands, and your Node version.
- Write the workflow: Vovy creates .github/workflows/ci.yml. GitHub Actions is a free robot that runs these commands on GitHub's computers every time you push.
- Push and watch it run: Vovy pushes on a branch and opens the Actions tab, narrating each step as the job runs.
- Fix the first failures: First runs often fail on missing env variables or a lint error. Vovy reads the log and fixes the cause.
- Make it a required check: Vovy shows a green run card and offers to require it before merging, so broken code cannot reach main.
What you provide
- A repo on GitHub
- Working build and test commands
What you get
- A CI workflow file
- Automatic checks on every PR
- First failures fixed
- A green check you can require
FAQ
Is GitHub Actions free?
Public repos are free. Private repos on GitHub Free get 2,000 minutes a month, which a simple web app CI rarely comes close to.
Why does CI fail when it works on my Mac?
Usually a missing environment variable, a different Node version, or a file you never committed. The log tells you which.
Do I need tests to use this?
No. Even just running the build catches most broken pushes before they deploy.
