Vovy installs Docker Desktop for your chip, starts the engine, and runs docker compose up so databases and services in the repo boot on your Mac.
Install Docker on my Mac and get docker compose up working for this repo
How it works
- Pick the right download: Vovy checks whether your Mac is Apple Silicon or Intel and downloads the matching Docker Desktop build.
- Install and grant permissions: Vovy drags Docker into Applications and opens it. macOS asks for your password to install helper tools, which you type yourself.
- Set sensible resources: Vovy caps Docker's memory in Settings, Resources so it does not eat your whole Mac, and confirms docker info shows a running engine.
- Start the project's services: Vovy runs docker compose up in your repo. A container is a sealed mini-computer that runs one service, like Postgres, the same way on every machine.
- Show what is running: A table card lists each container, its port and status, plus how to stop everything with docker compose down.

FAQ
Is Docker Desktop free?
It is free for personal use, education and small businesses. Companies with more than 250 employees or over $10 million in revenue need a paid subscription.
Do I even need Docker?
Only if your project uses it, for example a docker-compose.yml or the Supabase local stack. Many vibe-coded apps never do.
Why is my Mac fan loud now?
Docker runs a lightweight virtual machine in the background. Quit Docker Desktop when you are not using it.
