Vovy installs k6, simulates hundreds of visitors on a staging copy of your app, and shows the point where it slows down or starts failing.
Load test my app with a few hundred users before I launch
How it works
- Install k6: Vovy runs brew install k6. k6 is a free load testing tool that pretends to be many users at once.
- Point it at a preview, not production: It uses a Vercel preview deployment and a test database so fake traffic never touches real users or real data.
- Write a realistic test: The script visits your homepage, signs in with a test account and loads the main page, ramping from 10 to 300 virtual users.
- Run the ramp-up: Vovy runs the test and narrates live: response time, error rate and requests per second as the user count climbs.
- Find the breaking point: It checks Supabase for connection spikes and shows a chart of latency versus users, marking where things fell over and why.
What you provide
- A preview or staging URL
- A test login
What you get
- Latency vs users chart
- Your breaking point
- The bottleneck named
- A reusable k6 script
FAQ
Could this cost me money?
It uses function time and bandwidth on your plan, like real traffic. A short test is usually pennies, but Vovy asks before running it.
Will my host think it's an attack?
Moderate tests on your own preview are fine. Very large tests may trip firewall rules, so keep it to realistic numbers.
How many users should I test for?
Around 3 to 5 times your expected peak. A Product Hunt launch often means a few hundred people at once, not thousands.
