Vovy adds a GitHub ruleset to main that blocks force-pushes and deletion, and requires a pull request plus passing checks before any merge.
Protect my main branch so nothing merges without passing checks
How it works
- Check your current setup: Vovy checks who pushes to main today, including tools like Lovable and Claude Code, so the rules will not block your own workflow.
- Create a ruleset: Vovy opens Settings, Rules, Rulesets and creates a branch ruleset targeting the default branch.
- Pick the rules: Vovy turns on block force pushes, restrict deletions, require a pull request and require status checks to pass.
- Turn it on: Vovy sets enforcement to Active and adds you as a bypass if you want an emergency override.
- Test the protection: Vovy tries a direct push to main, shows it being blocked, and gives you a card of every active rule.

FAQ
Will this break Lovable's sync?
It can, because Lovable pushes directly to its synced branch. Point Lovable at a separate branch, or skip the pull request rule.
Is this available on the free plan?
Rulesets are free on public repos. For private repos on a personal account, they need GitHub Pro or a paid organization plan.
Rulesets or branch protection rules?
Rulesets are GitHub's newer system and can layer multiple rules. Classic branch protection still works too.
