Vovy adds a cookie banner that holds back analytics and ad tags until visitors agree, and wires it to Google Consent Mode v2 so your ads keep measuring.
Add a cookie consent banner that works with GA4 and my Meta pixel
How it works
- List what sets cookies: Vovy loads your site and lists every tracker in DevTools, like GA4, Meta Pixel, PostHog and chat widgets.
- Add the banner: Cursor adds a banner with equal Accept and Reject buttons and a settings link, since EU rules say rejecting must be as easy as accepting.
- Wire Consent Mode v2: It sets Google's consent defaults to denied, including ad_user_data and ad_personalization, and updates them when a visitor accepts.
- Hold other tags until consent: It delays the Meta Pixel and other trackers until the visitor accepts, and remembers their choice.
- Test both choices: Vovy rejects, confirms no tracking cookies are set, then accepts and confirms tags fire. A card shows both results.
What you provide
- Your project open in Cursor
- A list of tools you use, if you know it
What you get
- Working consent banner
- Consent Mode v2 wired
- Tags that respect the choice
- Accept and reject tested
FAQ
Do I need a banner if I'm in the US?
If you have EU or UK visitors, yes. Some US states also have privacy laws, so many sites show one everywhere.
Why Consent Mode v2?
Google requires consent signals for EEA users to use their data for ad measurement and remarketing. Without it, your Google Ads reporting gets weaker.
Is this legal advice?
No. Vovy sets up the mechanics. Your privacy policy and exact wording are worth a check with someone qualified.
