Vovy adds a free trial to your Stripe subscription checkout, decides with you whether a card is required, and sends a reminder before the trial ends.
Add a 14 day free trial to my Pro plan
How it works
- Choose card up front or not: A card compares trials that require a card, which convert better, with no-card trials, which get more signups.
- Add the trial to checkout: In Cursor Vovy sets trial_period_days to 14 on your subscription Checkout Session, and for no-card trials sets payment_method_collection to if_required.
- Treat trialing as Pro: It updates your access check so users with a trialing status get Pro features.
- Remind before it ends: Vovy handles customer.subscription.trial_will_end, which Stripe sends three days before, and emails a reminder with Resend.
- Test a trial: It starts a test trial and uses a Stripe test clock, which fast-forwards time, to show what happens on day 14.

FAQ
What happens if there's no card when the trial ends?
You choose: Stripe can cancel the subscription or pause it until the user adds a card.
Can people abuse free trials?
Some will make new accounts. Requiring a card, or one trial per email, cuts most of it.
Do I have to send the reminder?
It's good practice, and card networks and some laws expect clear notice before a trial turns into a paid subscription.
