Vovy connects App Store Connect to RevenueCat, sets up your subscription and paywall, and tests a purchase with a sandbox Apple account.
Set up RevenueCat for a monthly subscription in my Expo app
How it works
- Create the subscription in App Store Connect: Vovy opens your app in App Store Connect, adds a subscription group and a monthly subscription with its price. You sign in yourself.
- Create an In-App Purchase key: It generates an In-App Purchase key in App Store Connect and uploads the .p8 file to RevenueCat so it can read purchases.
- Set up products and entitlements: In RevenueCat Vovy imports the product, creates a pro entitlement, which is the access a purchase unlocks, and an offering for your paywall.
- Add the SDK and paywall: In Cursor it installs react-native-purchases, configures it with your public API key, and adds a paywall that unlocks pro features.
- Test with a sandbox account: Vovy builds a development build with EAS, you buy using a sandbox tester, and the purchase appears in RevenueCat's customer view.

FAQ
Can I use Stripe instead of Apple's payments?
For digital features used inside an iOS app, Apple's in-app purchase is generally required, though rules for linking to outside payments have loosened in some regions, including the US.
What do Apple and RevenueCat take?
Apple takes 15% if you join the Small Business Program, otherwise 30%. RevenueCat is free up to $2,500 in monthly tracked revenue, then 1%.
Why can't I test in Expo Go?
In-app purchases need native code that Expo Go doesn't include, so you need a development build.
