Vovy sets up Twilio, walks you through US carrier registration, adds a server route that sends texts, and tests one to your phone.
Set up Twilio so my app can text users their order updates
How it works
- Create your Twilio account: Vovy opens twilio.com, you sign up and verify your phone, and it notes your Account SID and Auth Token location.
- Buy a number: It helps you pick a local or toll-free number and buys it after you approve, since numbers cost a monthly fee.
- Register for US texting: US carriers require A2P 10DLC registration for business texting from local numbers, or verification for toll-free. Vovy fills in the forms with you.
- Add the sending route: Cursor adds a server route that sends a text, with the keys in Vercel env vars and a check that the user opted in.
- Send a test text: Vovy sends a test message to your phone and shows its delivery status from Twilio's Messaging logs.

FAQ
Why can't I text right away?
Unregistered business texts to US numbers get blocked. Registration usually takes days, sometimes a couple of weeks.
What does it cost?
You pay for the number monthly, per message sent, and small one-time and monthly registration fees. Check Twilio's pricing for your country.
Do users need to opt in?
Yes. You need clear permission to text them, plus STOP to unsubscribe, which Twilio handles by default.
